Our department is looking for novice or experienced tournament staff to be a part of the 24 hour E-Gaming section of FanimeCon. In this role, you will be helping to put on a great show for both attendees and staff alike. As a part of E-Gaming, you may be called upon to help with tournaments, greeting attendees, or just checking to make sure everyone feels welcome, and better yet, having fun.

E-Gaming Tournament Specialist Desired Skills:
* Experience in online bracketing software such as Challenge and Smash.gg.
* Prior experience with video game tournaments and events, primarily fighting games.
* Open Availability for both console and PC games, E-Gaming is a 24 hour department and will need lots of help!
* Prior Customer Service experience.
* Experience working with versatile, agile, dynamic teams in an exciting environment.

General Duties:
* Interact and delight attendees as one of the public faces of FanimeCon.
* Conduct area patrols around the E-Gaming stations and monitor for unusual activities.
* Assist attendees with signing up for tournaments, track tournament results, and reporting to the Event/Tournament Organizer.
* Equipment management and documentation.
* Carefully setting up E-Gaming, and tearing down equipment.
* Line control on major events during tournament sign-ups & check-in.
* Access control around stations during events upon request.

General Requirements
* Be customer service oriented, we want to help craft memorable experiences for our staff and attendees.
* Be on time for shifts and complete assigned tasks.
* Be at least 18 years old: some of our shifts are very late at night.
* Be able to maintain a positive attitude and ask others for help when needed

Info Desk staff

What is Info Desk? Who are they, and what do they do?

Info Desk is one of the most visible public faces of FanimeCon. We greet the public with a friendly face and the answer to their questions both through stationary desks and walking teams located throughout the convention. When you don't know, go ask Info!!

Info Desk Staff Requirements :

Must be 18 years old by the time FanimeCon starts. (exceptions may be made on a case by case basis)

Must have valid government issued photo ID. ie drivers licence, passport, state id card, military id card, etc....
Must work 24 hours over the course of Fanime weekend Th-M divided up into 6(six) 4(four) hour shifts.

Must complete Radio Training.

Must complete Customer Service Training.

Must attend at least 2(two) pre-con meeting

Must be familiar with Fanime and Clockwork Alchemy websites prior to the start of the con.

Must check in with Programing Ops and Manager On Duty 15 minutes before each shift.

Must check in with Programing Ops and Manager On Duty after each shift.

Must abide by the FanimeCon Member Code of Conduct and the FanimeCon Staff Code of Conduct at all times.

Info Desk Responsibilities

Before Con, Info Desk staff members are responsible for acquiring information as it becomes available concerning Programing, Extravaganzas, and Fan Service.  Throughout the months leading up to Con, Info Desk staff continue to become well versed on all programming, events, and schedule changes in order to share this information with staff and attendees.

During Con, Info Desk staff members distribute information about events, event locations, any changes, and other pertinent information. They understand the rhythm and flow of what information attendees ask for on a given day and are prepared with responses for related questions (for example, Cosplay is big on Saturday, so Info Staff should be prepared for questions related to cosplay). Info Staff members keep in constant contact with Programming Ops, distribute information about all changes that come from Prog Ops, and communicate any alarming trends to either Prog Ops or Con Ops as it pertains to scheduling. Info Desk is also responsible for distributing the daily con newsletter to attendees.

Broadcast Assistant Manager

Are you interested in being on the ground floor of an all new department at FanimeCon? Do you have an interest in audio and visual mediums? Do you have prior experience in audio recording, podcasting, or video production? Are you looking for a creative opportunity to contribute to something special? Have past experience in project management or looking to gain some?

FanimeCon’s Broadcast department is looking for an assistant manager. You will work closely with the Broadcast Department Manager, production teams, and stakeholders to develop entertaining and informative content for the fans. You will be an influential voice in interactions with our stakeholders. This is an exciting opportunity to help build something new in FanimeCon.

Responsibilities:
• Assist with scheduling production pipeline and release schedule
• Aides in department and team personnel management
• Contribute in discussions with stakeholders and relaying feedback to Producers
• Monitoring progress and deadline management
Requirements:
• Meet with department manager once a week
• Prior experience in content creation or AV production
• Ability to aid in multiple projects simultaneously

Availability:

Domestic GoH Handler (1-2 position)

The Guest Relations division is recruiting 2-3 professional and sociable staffers to work in the role of a domestic GoH handler - directly interacting with a domestic guests of honor (GoH) and guiding them around FanimeCon.

DUTIES:
+ Greet assigned GoH upon their arrival to and departure from con
+ Guide GoH around con according to their personal schedule
+ Help GoH coordinate/run their panels and interviews when necessary
+ Work as at-con liaison between GoH and Guest Relations head team.
+ Attend daily morning staff meetings during con.
+ Performing other necessary tasks within the Guest Relations division when requested.

REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must be 18 years old.
+ Must work AT LEAST a total of 24 hours over the 4-day event (Friday – Monday).
+ Must be punctual, professional, and organized.
+ Must be a cooperative team player.
+ Must be able to adjust to a constantly changing environment.

PREFERENCES:
+ Open and helpful person with initiative!
+ Available to work (some) late evenings
+ Familiarity with FanimeCon
+ Comfortable with public speaking

Logistics Truck/Large Vehicle Driver

We are looking for a large vehicle/truck driver.
Looking for a way to help Fanime while still enjoying the most out of the convention? Then consider joining Logistics, as most of our work is done before and after the convention. No prior experience required.

The perks and benefits of being part of Logistics:
-Actually have time to enjoy Fanime on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday! Don't want to work when you want to go to a Cosplay Meet Up, Music Fest, etc.? You don't have to worry about that because we do all our work before and after Fanime. With just a bit of physical labor, you can actually attend Fanime during the weekend. You are not obligated to sit in a room dealing with people, or run around doing errands.
-Free Food! We will provide a few free meal for the hard work you contribute. That way you have a bit more spending money for the Dealer's Room and Artist Alley!
-Also, we have an awesome, unique uniform, that no other department has.
-Did we mention free time during Fanime for you to enjoy?

Tabletop/Arcade Staff

Tabletop/Arcade is looking for all levels of staff!

Tabletop/Arcade rents out board games for attendees to play within the gaming hall or late night gaming room. In addition, we also host tournaments for various tabletop games.

Duties:
* Your main duty will be to help attendees check in/out game, manage collateral and ensure pieces that are loaned out with the game return with it.
* You may be also be asked to assist with tournaments. which may consist of clearing and reserving tables.
* Other duties may include crowd control for tournaments or competitions within the hall.

Requirements:
* You must work a minimum of 24 hours over the course of the convention. We are open from Thursday, 5/21 (Day 0) to Monday, 5/25.
* You must abide by the Fanime Code of Conduct, Staff Code of Conduct, and Tabletop/Arcade Code of Conduct
* Must be 18+ at the start of day 0
* Must check in with your shift lead at the start of each shift
* Willing to sit or stand by stations independently if requested

Optional:
* Attend staff meetings. If outside the SF Bay Area region, an online meeting will be scheduled if possible.

Preferred:
* Willing to work odd or late hours. We are open the entirety of the convention.
* Individuals with a passion for gaming
* Customer service skills are desired
* Attend radio training before con
* Open and helpful person with initiative
* Knowledge of board games.

Panels Staff

The Panels Department is searching for energetic, hard-working individuals interested in facilitating exceptional, entertaining experiences for FanimeCon attendees and panelists by ensuring scheduled panels and events proceed with minimal disruption.

Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must attend two training meetings
- Must work a total of 24 scheduled hours across the 4 days of the convention

Department Hours of Operations:
Friday: 2:00 PM – 1:00 AM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Sunday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Monday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM

Responsibilities:
- Managing lines for admittance into the panel rooms
- Checking badges and IDs at panel room doors
- Providing assistance to panelists before and during their panel
- Monitoring panels for disruptions and notifying appropriate staff if they occur
- Taking attendance counts during panels
- Greeting and checking-in panelists at the panelist lounge
- Running errands for department heads and leads
- Ensuring updated information is distributed to FanimeCon attendees

General Staff

The Signage Department is looking for general staffers. Signage produces the signs on easels throughout the convention. The general staff position involves working with our signs and easels. No prior training is necessary for this as we will be training you before and during the convention. If you have experience working with large plotters this is a plus, but not a requirement. The Signage Department sits under the larger Publications Department and Signage often works with the other teams under Publications. This means that you will possibly work with other teams in the same office on tasks that may not be directly related to Signage. You also have the possibility to work with other departments in the convention, but this will not be too different from what you are expected to do in your regular role.

Responsibilities:
• Working with large plotter to produce signs
• Cutting and framing signs
• Delivering completed signs to proper location
• Assisting other departments in Publications when necessary

Availability:
Signage staff are expected to work 24 hours during the convention weekend. Due to the nature of the department’s work schedule, Signage staff are required to work on the Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday of the convention. Friday through Sunday during the convention is flexible, and staffers typically are on call during that time.

Writers/Editors

Editorial is looking for staffers with experience in writing and editing to work on editing content for the program guide and website, as well as creating content for an at-con blog.

Duties:
• Editing content for the FanimeCon program guide and website.
• Creating written content for a blog published during the convention.
• Working with the Editorial Board to make sure all published work meets FanimeCon's editorial standards.
• Assisting Publications department staff with additional tasks as needed.

Requirements:
• Must be 18 or older.
• Experience (professional or personal) writing or editing content for publication.
• Keen eye for detail.
• Ability to meet deadlines.
• Must work minimum of 24 at con hours.

Preferences:
• Journalism, English, Creative Writing, Communications/Marketing background preferred.
• Previous experience writing and editing text for publication.
• Familiarity with AP Style or Chicago Manual of Style.
• Familiarity with Office and Google Drive/Docs.

The Guest Relations division is recruiting 2 sociable staffers to work in the Green Room, a rest and relaxation space for domestic and Japanese Guests of Honor (GoHs).

General Staff

Do you enjoy working in a fast pace environment? Want to have Saturday/Sunday at the con? Then Print might be the department for you! The Print Department is responsible for producing and distributing all printed materials for the convention and departments. We're a small department that's always looking to improve. We work in conjunction with the Signage and Publication departments to ensure that the other departments get what they need to function and advertise.

As a general staffer you will be responsible for:
- Assisting veteran/returning staffers with Print production
- Delivery of Print and Publication media
- Assisting with the check-out and check-in system for Publication equipment
- Assisting preparation of Print and Publication equipment materials during the lead up time to the convention
- Assisting other Publication departments with additional manpower

Note: Print media and equipment is heavy. Please note that you may be asked to carry items with significant weight, which may be over 50 pounds for team lifts.

Availability:
Our staffing workload is heavily impacted on Wednesday, Thursday, Friday, and Monday of convention weekend. Saturday and Sunday are lighter workload days. This allows you to schedule most of your time before/after most of the major events of the convention. We require the standard 24 hour commitment spread over the convention weekend.

Head of Development

Are you organized and self-driven? Do you want to make a big impression on the attendees? As head of Environmental Branding, you will be in charge of coordinating and managing interactions between all other departments of the convention to produce all banners and adverts displayed throughout the convention.

Roles/Responsibilities:
- Explore and develop new concepts and possibilities for branding the convention center
- Communicate with various Fanime departments on projects desired
- Determine specifications and establish procedures for setup and removal of each project
- Oversee production and manage staff
- Plan and manage inventory and procurement needs for banner and advert production

Requirements:
- Must be able to work 24+ hours during Fanime weekend.
- Must be local to the Bay Area
- Must be able to arrive and work at the convention on Wednesday and work on Monday of the convention weekend due to extended setup and teardown times.
- Will likely be working during the late evening/early morning hours of the convention due to setup window times.
- Able to attend all General Staff meetings to the best of their ability.

Preferences:
- Prior staff/project management skills preferred.
- Familiarity with Slack and Trello preferred.

Co-Head

Webteam is looking for an organized and dedicated Co-Head to manage the FanimeCon website!

Responsibilities:
- Manage publishing pipeline with Trello for web content
- Assign tasks to webteam members
- Communicate with other department heads on web content via email
- Closely coordinate with the Content department
- Attend monthly FanimeCon General Staff meetings

Requirements:
- Internet access for about 15 hours a week, depending on amount of content that week
- Communicate via email, Slack (www.slack.com), Discord (www.discord.com), or Trello (www.trello.com)
- Be on-call for website updates during the FanimeCon convention weekend, trading off with the other Co-Head(s)

- Experience with WordPress's admin and content-entry system
- CSS

Gaming Stage Commentator

The Hosts & Commentators role presents you as the face (and voice) of some of these events. If you are passionate and knowledgeable about games, your expertise is wanted to help communicate some of the in-depth strategies, overall meta knowledge, and statistical analysis to observers both at home and at home through our broadcasted efforts!

DUTIES:
-Host gaming events that will take place on the gaming stage
-Commentate / Co-commentate on various tournament games
-Moderate audience participation

REQUIREMENTS:
-Must be 18 years or older.
-Must work a total of 24 hours over the 4-day event (Friday - Monday)
-Must be punctual and professional.
-Must be a cooperative team player.
-Must be able to adjust to a constantly changing environment and work independently as needed.

PREFERENCES:
-Previous Casting / Commentating experience
-Clear and confident speaking ability (public speaking skills).

Physical Transport

FanimeCon needs you! A huge convention needs people to physically move convention materials from our storage to the every department in the convention across all the buildings. It's a big job, but a very important job.

All of the load-in work is done on Day -1(Wednesday) and Day 0(Thursday), and the load-out is on Day 4. This means you have the main days of the convention free to enjoy! Most of Friday and all day of Saturday and Sunday of FanimeCon are open for logistics.

On top of that, the Logistics team has special perks that extend above the normal staff levels.

We do require that logistics staffers have the physical strength to lift and carry boxes of convention equipment, and should be available for as much of load-in/load-out as possible.

Chronicler

Publications is looking for an observant, detailed, and organized individual to be a Chronicler. The goal of the Chronicler is to provide a detailed timeline of when things happen in the Publications office during the convention in order to help us make improvements year to year.

Responsibilities:
- Record details on incidents, issues, or activities as they occur, logging the time
- Monitor production lines, noting start and finish times for various major projects
- Follow Publications Head to take any additional notes on issues as they happen
- Produce a timeline of events during the course of Publications' production after the convention weekend

Requirements:
- Staff during Wednesday, Thursday, and Monday of convention weekend. These are the peak hours which require a Chronicler on hand
- Attend General Staff Meetings
- Plans on returning for the 2020 year so improvements can be implemented

Masquerade Staff

PREREQUISITES

* Be at least 18 years of age prior to or by Day 0 of Fanime.
* Experience in Technical Theatre and/or Backstage
* Attend one of the last two planning meetings prior to con.
*Must be available to work on Day 3 (Sunday)
*Looking for ninjas(stage hands) and den mothers(cosplayer’s liaison), Techs, House Manager, Assistant Stage Managers



ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS
-Preferable Availability to volunteer Day 1- Day 3 of Fanime
-Available to work (some) late evenings.
-Experience in stage management and running crew*
-Experience in working with contestants*
-Experience in Audio/Visual Technology**
*Do not need to have experience in each category, but it is welcomed
** Literacy of the Windows & Mac operating systems’ sound and display settings including but not limited to Qlab tech

-Assisting in helping the cosplayer contestants on where to go and when to wait
-Assisting backstage

Registration staff

Graphic Designer

Have you ever wondered how the signs across FanimeCon are created? Are you experienced in graphic design work? Looking for an opportunity to apply your talents to help FanimeCon?

FanimeCon’s Signage department is looking for staff experienced in graphic design. You will be working closely with the Signage department leadership to design the signs used throughout the convention. All work is completed in Adobe Illustrator.

Responsibilities:

• Work with Department Manager to design signs
• Must meet deadlines established by Department Managers

Requirements:

• Familiarity and access to Adobe Illustrator

Availability:

Scheduling for Signage graphic design staff is flexible. Signage graphic design staff primarily complete their work during the months leading up to the convention. During the convention, graphic design staff work an on-call schedule. Staff work with the department manager to create a schedule that is agreed upon by both the designer and the department manager.

General Staff

Do you want to see how the convention is set up? Have you ever wondered how the Welcome Banner is made? Then join the Environmental Branding Department! You will see the convention like you have never seen it before. We are expanding our use of banners across the entirety of the convention center. All you need is to be capable of working in a team environment to help make FanimeCon look like a dream that everybody will remember!

*Preparing and setting up banners and decals around the convention
*Periodically checking the banners and decals over the course of FanimeCon

Gaming Broadcast Production Staff

The Fanime Gaming Stage is production staff to help with the behind the scenes process of the gaming stage! While the commentators are looking pretty, you’ll be the one making them look pretty.

DUTIES:
-Assist with the stage set-up phase for each event and tournament
-Control the technical equipment running the stage
-Run sign-ups for audience participation events
-Provide feedback and information to the commentators on stage

REQUIREMENTS:
-Must be 18 years or older.
-Must work a total of 24 hours over the 4-day event (Friday - Monday)
-Must be punctual and professional.
-Must be a cooperative team player.
-Must be able to adjust to a constantly changing environment and work independently as needed.

PREFERENCES:
-Have previous experience running a Twitch stream
-Experience operating a soundboard
-Any experience with image manipulations programs such as Photoshop, GIMP, etc.

What we do:
-Dealer exhibitor check in.
-Cater to our Dealers' logistical needs during the show.
-Help with communications between our union decorator & Dealers.
-Manning & assist w/ daily tasks at our Dealer Ops Info booth.
-PA announcements. (If you're not mic-shy and you like to hear the sound of your own voice...lol)
-Bootleg spotting. (Help keep our Dealers honest!)
-Occasional crowd/line control.

Publications is looking for a 2nd of operations. The 2nd provides support in managing the operations of all departments under Publication's jurisdiction. The 2nd will also be in charge of projects such as the Program Guide and the Pocket Guide.

Requirements:
- Must be able to work 24+ hours during Fanime weekend.
- Prior staff/project management skills preferred.
- Familiarity with Slack and Trello preferred

Roles/Responsibilities:
- Communicate with various Publications departments and troubleshoot issues
- Plan and manage inventory and procurement needs
- Coordinate purchasing and delivery of Program Guides and Pocket Guides
- Debug issues inside the department

Gaming Stage Stagehand

The Fanime Gaming Stage is recruiting for stagehands to assist in the security of the stage during its downtime. This will be primarily between the hours of 02:00 AM and 08:00 AM.
