Copy-Editor

Editorial is looking for experienced staffers who are skilled at copy-editing and rewriting in order to assist with editing content for the FanimeCon program guide, website, and other public-facing content as needed.

What You Will Do:
Read over and edit content given to us by other departments for spelling, grammar, and readability, according to the FanimeCon style guide
Communicate with the team via Discord
Get assigned tasks and manage them through Trello
Rewrite text on occasion for readability

Requirements:
Have internet access
Have access to a computer
Have an email address that can access Google Docs (usually a Google account)
Have a Discord account or can create one. You will need to check it at least once a week
Have a Trello account or can create one. You will need to check it at least once a week
Able to work online before con for at least 20 cumulative hours
Work at least one 3-hour shift in-person at con
Attend at least one general FanimeCon staff meeting, either via Zoom (online) or in-person
Attend department-specific meetings as needed

Nice to Haves:
Experience with copy-editing
Experience with writing/rewriting
Experience with AP Style Guide
Have used Google Docs, Trello, and Discord

Please note that we heavily use Discord and Trello for communication and management of tasks. Email communication will be for major announcements, and any major announcements during con will be handled almost solely through Discord.

This staff position is a part of the Editorial Department, which is under Content Services. Our sister department is Web Team. If you have any experience with Wordpress, programming, UX design, etc. on top of your editing experience, please mention this in your application and we may have alternative positions for you in Content Services or Web Team.
