Attendee Relations Staff
Attendee Relations staff are responsible for customer service, peace-bonding, & line and crowd control at FanimeCon. If you enjoy walking around & interacting with attendees while also getting a behind-the-scenes peek at how the con is run, this is a great department for you!
Looking for a new experience this upcoming FanimeCon? The Attendee Relations department is looking for people to help make the convention a better place. We’re an ever-growing event and now is your chance to give back!
Attendee Relations staff are responsible for customer service and safety at FanimeCon. Our staff can be found throughout the convention helping FanimeCon attendees, and ensuring that the convention is as fun and safe as possible. Attendee Relations staff have many responsibilities, but can often be found doing the following: 
*General Safety: Preventing unsafe behavior and activities (such as running, blocking doorways, etc.), and escalating any unsafe situations (harassment, spills, facility issues, etc.) as efficiently as possible. 
*Peace-Bonding: Checking that props are compliant with FanimeCon’s Weapons Policy, and tagging the ones that pass at our peace-bonding station.  
*Line and Crowd Control: Ensuring that crowds stay orderly, as well as keeping walkways, exits, safety equipment, and other areas clear for all events at convention, such as Autographs, Black and White Ball, Music Fest, and more. 
*Escort Duties: Providing safety escorts for staff, guests, and attendees as needed or requested. 
*Lanterns: This is a special team within the department. They handle incident management, and often work alongside Security. 
If you are interested in joining the Attendee Relations family, please consider the following: 
1. You must be 16 years of age or older by the start of FanimeCon. 
2. We ask that you make a minimum of 3 training meetings (either in-person or online) to ensure that you are well-prepared with the challenges that you will face at FanimeCon. 
3. All staff members must volunteer a minimum of 24 hours throughout the 5 days of the convention. 
4. You should have a love for the community that is FanimeCon, and must be willing to step up to the tasks that are given to you during your shifts!

Masquerade Leads
Do you enjoy cosplay? Do you have prior experience working backstage in the theater or service-oriented skills? We are looking for leadership roles for the Masquerade to support the management of ninjas (stage hands), backstage cosplayer support staff, cosplay repair station helpers, and general Masquerade staff.
PREREQUISITES FOR ALL LEAD ROLES
* Be at least 18 years of age before or by Day 0 of Fanime.
* Attend at least the last three planning meetings prior to con, virtually or in-person. In-person for two planning meetings preferred.
* Mandatory meeting on Day 0 (Thursday) or Day 1 (Friday). This date may vary depending on full department availability.
* Must be available to work during Masquerade open hours, with additional time for setup, teardown, and alignment meetings during scheduled closed hours.
* Must be available almost all of our Show Day, Day 3 (Sunday). Breaks and meal times will be worked into the schedule.
* We can work with you to accommodate your schedule for Masquerade Shifts.
FOR ATTENDEE-FACING LEAD ROLES
* Ability to lead the check-in of contestants
* Ability to answer (or locate the answer) to contestant questions
* Ability to oversee a team of 1-5 general staff at a given time
* Assist with judge coordination and communication during con
FOR THEATER-BASED LEAD ROLES
* Prior theater experience a plus, but not required. Must be willing to learn!
* Able to read basic cue sheets
* Knowledgeable of backstage theater safety and etiquette to help manage both staff and contestants during the rehearsal and show run.

Info Desk staff
What is Info Desk? Who are they, and what do they do?
Info Desk is one of the most visible public faces of FanimeCon. We greet the public with a friendly face and the answer to their questions both through stationary desks and walking teams located throughout the convention. When you don't know, go ask Info!!
Info Desk Staff Requirements :
Must be 18 years old by the time FanimeCon starts. (exceptions may be made on a case by case basis)
Must have valid government issued photo ID. ie drivers licence, passport, state id card, military id card, etc....
Must work 20 hours over the course of Fanime weekend Th-M divided up into 6(six), 4(four) hour shifts.
Must complete Radio Training. 
Must complete Customer Service Training.
Must attend at least 2(two) pre-con meeting
Must be familiar with the Fanime website. 
Must check in with the Manager On Duty 15 minutes before each shift.
Must check in with the Manager On Duty after each shift.
Must abide by the FanimeCon Member Code of Conduct and the FanimeCon Staff Code of Conduct at all times.
Info Desk Responsibilities:
Before Con, Info Desk staff members are responsible for acquiring information as it becomes available concerning Programing, Extravaganzas, and Fan Service.  Throughout the months leading up to Con, Info Desk staff continue to become well versed on all programming, events, and schedule changes in order to share this information with staff and attendees.
During Con, Info Desk staff members distribute information about events, event locations, any changes, and other pertinent information. They understand the rhythm and flow of what information attendees ask for on a given day and are prepared with responses for related questions (for example, Cosplay is big on Saturday, so Info Staff should be prepared for questions related to cosplay). Info Staff members keep in constant contact with Manager on Duty to distribute information about all changes that come from other departments, and communicate any alarming trends to either Manager on Duty or Con Ops as it pertains to scheduling.

Copy-Editor
Editorial is looking for experienced staffers who are skilled at copy-editing and rewriting in order to assist with editing content for the FanimeCon program guide, website, and other public-facing content as needed.
What You Will Do:
Read over and edit content given to us by other departments for spelling, grammar, and readability, according to the FanimeCon style guide
Communicate with the team via Discord
Get assigned tasks and manage them through Trello
Rewrite text on occasion for readability
Requirements:
Have internet access
Have access to a computer
Have an email address that can access Google Docs (usually a Google account)
Have a Discord account or can create one. You will need to check it at least once a week
Have a Trello account or can create one. You will need to check it at least once a week
Able to work online before con for at least 20 cumulative hours
Work at least one 3-hour shift in-person at con
Attend at least one general FanimeCon staff meeting, either via Zoom (online) or in-person

Gaming Hall staff
Love the arcade? Enjoy video games? Can't get enough of the tabletop experience? Then join us at the Gaming Hall!
The Gaming Hall team is looking for folks who can help us keep the Gaming Hall running smoothly throughout the entire weekend. No gaming experience required!
Requirements:
- You must be over 15 years of age
- You are able to commit to working a minimum of 24 hours for Gaming Hall over the 4-day event
- You must be on time for shifts and complete assigned tasks
- You must attend at least 2 (two) pre-convention meetings (virtual or in-person)
- You must abide by the FanimeCon Member Code of Conduct and the FanimeCon Staff Code of Conduct at all times
General Duties:
- Communicate with attendees relating to Gaming Hall offerings
- Coordinate with Tournament Organizers (TOs) for signups, guide attendees to tournament check-ins, assist with issuing prizes for tournament winners
- Perform patrols of the Gaming Hall area and machines, and report any suspicious activity or issues with any equipment
- Maintain communication with our partners when issues arise with any of their machines
- Provide crowd control and ensure clear pathways near games that accrue a large audience of spectators
- Set up, rearrange, and break down tabletop games (may include lifting heavy objects up to 30lbs with/without the assistance of others)
- Have fun :)
Preferences:
- Knowledge relating to arcades, eGaming, and tabletop gaming preferred, but not required
- Experience with tournaments a plus
- Experience in customer service and volunteering recommended

Japanese Interpreter (1-2 position)
The Guest Relations division is recruiting 1-2 professional and sociable staffers to work in the role of a Japanese interpreter - directly interpreting for a Japanese guest of honor (GoH) and guiding them around FanimeCon.
DUTIES:
+ Serve as a Japanese/English interpreter for assigned GoH throughout the entirety of GoH's appearance at FanimeCon.
+ Greet and support GoH upon their arrival to and departure from con.
+ Guide GoH around con according to their personal schedule.
+ Help GoH coordinate/run their panels and interviews when necessary.
+ Work as at-con liaison between GoH and Guest Relations head team.  
+ Attend daily morning staff meetings during con.
+ Perform other necessary tasks within the Guest Relations division when requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must have advanced level of fluency in Japanese (JLPT N2 or N1 certification)
+ Must be 18 years old.
+ Must work AT LEAST a total of 24 hours over the 4-day event (Friday – Monday) and be available to start from Friday morning.

+ Must be a cooperative team player.
+ Must be able to adjust to a constantly changing environment.

Panels Staff
The Panels Department is searching for energetic, hard-working individuals interested in facilitating exceptional, entertaining experiences for FanimeCon attendees and panelists by ensuring scheduled panels and events proceed with minimal disruption.
Requirements:
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- New staff must attend an orientation meeting (via Discord or Zoom).
- All staff must attend a training session onsite on May 21st or 22nd, 2025.
- Must work a total of 24 scheduled hours across the 4 days of the convention.
- Must have a Discord account, and actively check email at least once weekly.
Department Hours of Operations:
Friday: 2:00 PM – 1:00 AM
Saturday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Sunday: 8:00 AM – 1:00 AM
Monday: 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM
Responsibilities:
- Managing lines for admittance into the panel rooms.
- Checking badges and IDs at panel room doors.
- Providing assistance to panelists before and during their panel.
- Monitoring panels for disruptions and notifying appropriate staff if they occur.
- Taking attendance counts during panels.
- Greeting and checking-in panelists at the panelist lounge.
- Running errands for department heads and leads.
- Ensuring updated information is distributed to FanimeCon attendees.

Cosplay Photography (Experienced)
Cosplay Photography is looking for photographers with experience in cosplay and/or event photography to join our staff for Fanime 2026. As an experienced photographer, you will be responsible for covering cosplay gatherings hosted at Fanime as the official Cosplay Gathering photographer.
What We Expect:
- Attendance/coverage of a minimum of 12 cosplay gatherings, up to 1 hour each, spread across the main convention days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Attendance at several meetings, including:
  - Two 1-hour all-staff meetings in April and May (in-person or remote via Zoom)
  - One 1-hour introduction/orientation meeting (remote, TBD)
  - One 1-hour department prep meeting (remote, TBD)
- Post-convention selection, editing, and curation of photos by each photographer
  - Expected turnaround for complete photos is 6-8 weeks after the convention
What We Provide:
- Dedicated break/editing room with snacks and water
- Hot breakfast/dinner and grab-and-go lunch for the main convention days (Friday, Saturday, Sunday)
- Basic rental camera kits including camera, lens, memory cards, batteries (subject to availability)

Extravaganzas Division Leads
The Extravaganzas Division is seeking staff members interested in learning about and supporting 1-2 departments from the division-level throughout the pre-planning year and convention weekend! These individuals should be interested in learning more about what goes into organizing specific events within the division and can support them in keeping up to date with deadlines, communication, and assist in finding solutions in the moment as needed.
The Extravaganzas Division oversees and supports the following departments:

DUTIES:
- Provide focused support on individual departments within the division
- Support assigned department(s) in the way that they need (check-ins, deadline reminders, feedback, etc)
- Assist with line control as needed for large events (will receive proper training)
- Assist in the escalation pipeline from department-level to division-level as needed
PREFERENCES:
- Willingness to learn about and/or develop event planning skills
- Comfortable in loud, crowded environments
- Able to move from one space to another efficiently
REQUIREMENTS:
- Must have prior staff experience at FanimeCon or similar conventions
- Must be 18 years of age or older

MusicFest Staff (2-3 positions)
The MusicFest department (a department in the Guest Relations Division) is recruiting 2-3 professional and sociable staffers to work in the role of a MusicFest staffer – directly supporting the FanimeCon MusicFest concert in all aspects.
 
DUTIES:
+ Work as a part of the MusicFest staff to support the MusicFest guest(s) including:
++ Perform a variety of organizational tasks to support the success of the FanimeCon MusicFest concert.
++ Work as at-con liaison between MusicFest department and Guest Relations head team when requested. 
++ Attend to MusicFest GoHs during their time at FanimeCon when requested.
++ Attend daily morning GR staff meetings and any MusicFest staff meetings during con.

Green Room Staff (2 positions)
The Guest Relations division is recruiting 2 sociable staffers to work in the Green Room, a rest and relaxation space for domestic and Japanese Guests of Honor (GoHs). 
DUTIES:
+ Present hospitable Green Room environment to GoHs including: maintaining cleanliness of room; keeping snacks/drinks stocked; engaging with GoHs when necessary.   
+ Attend daily staff meetings during con.
+ Aid handlers/interpreters with Panels' check-in.
+ Performing other necessary tasks within the Guest Relations division when requested.
REQUIREMENTS:
+ Must be 18 years old. 
+ Must work a total of 24 hours over the 4-day event (Friday – Monday) and be available to start from Friday morning.
+ Must be punctual and professional.
+ Must be a cooperative team player.
+ Must be able to adjust to a constantly changing environment and work independently as needed.

Web Content Staffer
Web Team is looking for folks who are interested in helping maintain and update the content on the WordPress-powered FanimeCon website!
What You Will Do:
- Update page content given by other departments in FanimeCon on the WordPress website
- Work with the sister department Editorial to get content looking nice on the website
- Communicate with the team via Discord
- Get assigned tasks or assign yourself tasks and manage them through Trello
Requirements:

Division Runners
The Extravaganzas Division is seeking staff members interested in assisting multiple departments over the weekend! Division Runners will primarily be supporting departments during scheduled times throughout the weekend and have the opportunity to learn more about or assist with event planning during the pre-con planning period if interested.
DUTIES:
- Support the Extravaganzas Division and its respective departments with supply and/or food runs
- Assist with setup and/or teardown of departments as needed daily while on site (helping put out signs, ensure spaces are unlocked/locked, etc)
- Assist with line control as needed for large events (will receive proper training)

- Able to move from one space to another efficiently
- Willingness to learn about or develop event planning skills

Cosplay Gatherings
As a department our primary mission is to coordinate cosplay gathering events and assist in any way that we can. Our goal is to make everything at these events runs smoothly. We are looking for individuals that are interested in cosplay that would like to support our gatherings hosts. 
Duties
-Help event hosts with whatever is needed
-Work to ensure events run smoothly and on time
-Coordinate gatherings events 
-Schedule gatherings events 
-Work with photographers to ensure maximum coverage of the events 
Requirements
-Must be punctual and organized
-Be willing to assist with gatherings Friday-Sunday 9am-6pm
-The position is primarily outside (weather permitting) and requires some but minimal physical labor (setting up/taking down folding tents).
-Must be able to work with gatherings hosts as to best support them for their event
-Schedulers will need to attend a meeting in April 
If you have experience we would love to have your knowledge on board
If you have no prior experience that's no problem as well, we are happy to have anyone that has passion and is willing to help.

Fashion Show Assistant
The J-Fashion Department is looking for staff to assist with our day-of fashion show logistics! Prior experience in fashion show coordination is not necessary, but interest in J-Fashion is preferred.
DUTIES:
- Prepping garments pre-show, inventorying garments post-show, and general dressing room maintenance & upkeep
- Assembling garment racks and dressing rooms
- Directing models during prep time to ensure that they are dressed and ready in a timely manner
- Line management at fashion show doors
PREFERENCES:
- Comfortable in loud or chaotic environments
- Experience with directing large groups of people
- General knowledge of J-Fashion styles, and able to assist in styling models
- Able to stay on your feet for long periods of time, including walking
REQUIREMENTS: 
- Must be 18 years of age or older

Dealers Dept Staff
Ever wonder how we keep our Dealers Room running? Want to know what it takes to be the "modern day traveling salesman"? Now's your chance to get your feet wet in event management!
What we do:
-Dealer exhibitor check in.
-Cater to our Dealers' logistical needs during the show.
-Help with communications between our union decorator & Dealers.
-Manning & assist w/ daily tasks at our Dealer Ops Info booth.
-PA announcements. (If you're not mic-shy and you like to hear the sound of your own voice...lol)
-Bootleg spotting. (Help keep our Dealers honest!)
-Occasional crowd/line control.

ConOps is the go to place for attendees or staffers to bring any issues they may be having during FanimeCon. We work with other staff to find answers and solutions, big or small. Base Staff serve as the communication and incident response hub of ConOps.
Experience Level: Some skills & experience expected, training will be offered
Shift Expectation: 4-6 hours each day of the convention (adding up to the total of ~24)
Basic Duties/Tasks: take calls, communicate via radio, monitor Discord traffic, document reported incidents
Recommended Skills & Traits: customer service, multitasking, communication (via phone/radio/discord), note taking
